Color Stories: Yellow

Post Image

Color psychology suggests that certain colors are capable of evoking certain moods and may even have an influence over behavior and well-being.

Warm colors can stimulate energy and mood, and can sometimes even cause increased irritability and anxiety.

Yellow is the brightest color of the visible spectrum and it is the most noticeable of all colors by the human eye. It helps activate the memory, encourage communication, enhance vision, build confidence and stimulate the nervous system.

The color yellow can be bright and intense, which is perhaps why it can often invoke such strong feelings. Yellow can quickly grab attention, but it can also be abrasive when overused.

Much like how red has been proven to increase heartrate and increase appetite, yellow has a similar effect in the food arena. Together they are the most popular colors for fast food restaurants because they evoke the tastebuds and appetite. Yellow can also increase metabolism.

Yellow can also create feelings of frustration and anger. While it is considered a cheerful color, people are more likely to lose their tempers in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms.
